Southwestern College is committed to providing an environment that respects the dignity of all individuals, regardless of their sex. Title IX violations <linke to Title IX Policies page>, which apply to any school receiving federal funds, ensure that sexual discrimination or sexual misconduct of any sort is prohibited.
Our staff is trained on how to handle Title IX complaints and we are here to support and protect you if you feel you have witnessed or been subject to a Title IX violation. Read on to see how we can help.
Ways to Report
If you feel you have been the victim of a Title IX violation, including sexual misconduct, you have many options you can choose from to report your incident.
College Employees
Any individual may report sexual harassment to the College District’s Title IX Coordinator or other College District employees. Please know that certain employees who are Officials with Authority are not confidential resources and are required to report allegations of sexual harassment to the Title IX Coordinator promptly.Campus Security at Other Schools
If you have experienced a potential Title IX violation at another school, you may also report violations to College administrators at other campuses who can assist you with notifying the College Police and local law enforcement.US Department of Education Office of Civil Rights
The Office of Civil Rights evaluates the written information that it receives to determine whether it constitutes a complaint that is subject to further processing.
Title IX Policies
In compliance with Title IX, our programs and activities offer equal access to everyone, regardless of sex. Our Title IX policy applies to all college programs and activities, including but not limited to: recruitment, admissions, off-campus activities, counseling, financial assistance, athletics, clubs, discipline, single-sex education, and employment.
In addition, our protections for Title IX also prohibit acts of Sexual misconduct. “Sexual misconduct” comprises a broad range of unwelcome behaviors focused on sex and/or gender that may or may not be sexual in nature. Sexual misconduct encompasses sexual harassment, sexual assault, sexual exploitation, or gender-based harassment, which is a form of harassment based on gender identity, gender expression, or non-conformity with gender stereotypes.

What We Do
Southwestern College has an office dedicated to Title IX violations.
The Office of Employee Relations and Title IX specifically handles Title IX claims. Upon receipt of any complaint related to a potential Title IX violation, we will ensure every allegation is investigated promptly, adequately, and impartially.
