Our Career Center works closely to prepare students to reach their career goals and support faculty/staff to embed career-focused activities within the classroom. We support students in being intentional with their holistic experiences through the exploration of interests, development of skills, and preparation for the workforce. 

Finding a Job/ intership

Student Employment Services

Visit our Student Employment Services web page or connect with a Student Employment Services Specialist to explore options of obtaining employment, internships, and on/off campus positions by scheduling an appointment on Handshake. Follow these steps to schedule an appointment:

  1. Log into Handshake directly from your mySWC portal under Campus Apps. 
  2. After clicking Handshake login and click “Career Center”.
  3. Click “Schedule  A New Appointment.” 
  4. Select the type of appointment you desire, and select a day and time that works best for you.  

Meet with a Career Peer Ambassador

Meet the Career Peer Ambassadors team, who are campus student leaders trained to facilitate the resources available through the Southwestern College Career and Transfer Connections department. Students selected to serve as Career Peer Ambassadors participate in intensive training sessions with our Career Counselors and Career and Transfer Connections department staff to develop transferable work-related skills, and participate in professional development trainings as needed. They promote and deliver informational presentations about career services within classrooms, around the college campus, and at career services events. They also provide walk-in individual and group peer-to-peer career coaching sessions. Stop by our front desk to meet 1:1 with a Career Peer Advisor (CPA).

The Southwestern College Career and Transfer Connections department organizes Job fairs and Career Expo Weeks on campus. Attending these events can be highly beneficial for those seeking jobs and wanting to engage with both for-profit and non-profit employers.
