Welcome to the Southwestern College Higher Education Center at Otay Mesa, the district’s state-of-the-art facility with the capacity to serve 5000 students. Located in Otay Mesa, only minutes away from the U.S.-Mexico International Border and adjacent to the future 905 freeway, we are perfectly situated to bring higher education closer to those who live or work in this area.
The mission of the Higher Education Center at Otay Mesa is to develop in our students an attitude of care and service, a strong work ethic, and a solid foundation of knowledge and skills in the area of healthcare, public safety, international business, community development, and transfer studies, as well as to provide our local and international communities with well-educated citizens and a strong workforce.
Academic Programs
The Higher Education Center at Otay Mesa is proud to house a number of signature programs including the Police Academy, Nursing, Fire Science Technology, Paramedic, Emergency Medical Technician, International Business and Logistics, and Community Development. Additionally, the Center offers courses in general education and transfer studies, as well as basic skills, community and business interest classes.
Class Schedule
The Center offers over 170 different courses so you can pursue an associate degree, complete general education requirements for transfer or develop occupational skills for employment. Internships are available for students who want to pursue careers in the field of international business and community development.
Student Services
We also offer a wide array of student services, including Admissions and Records, Assessment, Financial Aid, Counseling, Disability Support Services, and tutoring.
