If you plan to attend the Summer 2014 term, you must reapply for BOG Fee Waiver because any waiver granted for the 2013-14 year will NOT apply to the Summer 2014 term. The online application will be available on this webpage the week of April 28th.
Board of Governor's Fee Waiver (BOGFW) is available to California
residents who meet specific income eligibility requirements. The program
waives the Enrollment Fee and reduces the Parking Permit Fee. The
Health and Student Center fees are also waived for students who qualify
under Method A below. The BOGFW will be in effect for the academic year
(Summer, Fall and Spring terms). There are no minimum or maximum unit
College will use the results of the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal
Student Aid) or California Dream Application to determine student
eligibility for the BOGFW and will automatically award those students who are eligible and who have registered for classes.
Students who have not completed either of these applications must fill
out the BOGFW application if they want to see if they are eligible. Applicants must be a California Resident as determined by the registrar’s office.
Types of BOG Fee Waivers
Students or their parent(s) must be currently receiving TANF/CalWORKS, SSI/SSP, or General Assistance. To receive a BOGFW A, the student is required to show verification dated within the last 60 days. Students who are eligible for a BOGFW A will have their Enrollment, Health and Student Center fees waived, and the Parking Permit Fee will be reduced.
Students and/or their parent(s) must meet household size and income standards established each year by the State of California. Students who are eligible for a BOGFW B will have their Enrollment Fees waived, and the Parking Permit Fee will be reduced. Method B does not waive Health Fees.
Students must complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) or California Dream Act application (for AB540 students without SSNs). Southwestern College will use the results to determine student eligibility for the BOGFW and will award those students who are enrolled and determined to have at least $1104 of financial need. Students who are eligible for a BOGFW C will have their Enrollment Fee waived and the Parking Permit Fee reduced. Method does not waive Health Fees.
You are eligible for a BOGFW is you are a dependent of a qualified Veteran, Congressional Medal of Honor recipient, Victim of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack, or deceased law enforcement/fire personnel killed in the line of duty. Verification of eligibility from the appropriate agency is required.
Under AB131, students who are registered as AB540 are entitled to receive BOGFW and should complete the BOGFW application at the link above. For students needing to qualify under BOGFW C, students with valid SSNs should complete the FAFSA application and students without SSNs should complete the California Dream Application
