Health Services and Campus Police bring their popular drunk driving awareness event “Under the Influence” back to Southwestern College. This event educates the campus community on the dangers and consequences of driving under the influence and helps promote a safe spring break for students.
To help better educate the campus community, members of the Campus Police will lead people on a golf cart track through the Mayan Hall patio. First students will drive and weave their way through orange cones and yellow tape uninhibited. Then, they’ll dawn the “Drunk Busters Impairment Goggles,” meant to recreate the affects of being under the influence, and take to the track once more.
Campus Police will also be offering mock DUI checkpoints and sobriety checks, with and without the “Drunk Busters” goggles. Health Services will be on hand to provide information on how to have a safe and healthy spring break.
Event is open to the public. Participating drivers must have a valid driver’s license. No special requirements for the sobriety check.
