CCAC is pleased to provide information on our partner -California State Parks & Recreation - Jr Lifeguard Training Program. Training a future core of certified lifeguards to support beach and bay operations is available through CCAC and State Parks.
The California State Lifeguards
at the Silver Strand State Beach
offer the Jr. Lifeguard Program
twice during the summer. Each session is four weeks in length and open to boys and girls 9-16 years of age.
Students learn all about the ocean, including waves, tides, currents, marine life, beach hazards, beach etiquette and beach safety.
Training includes surf rescue, first aid and CPR lifesaving methods. (Non-Certificated)
This enormously popular program provides sun, surf, games, competitions, swim conditioning, surfing, body boarding, body-surfing, skin diving and exercise to the Jr. Lifeguard participant.

To qualify you must:
- Swim 100 yards in a time designated for your age
- Tread water for 3 minutes
This program is run entirely by the CSP/Silver Strand State Beach Lifeguards
