We're all losers but some of us refuse to lose...
"Balm in Gilead" is best described as Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Lanford Wilson's homage to the lovable losers of New York's Upper West side. Based on the writer's own experiences eavesdropping on patrons of a neighborhood diner, it is a raucous symphony of simultaneous conversations spoken by a collection of characters, caught in a coffee shop, while the oftentimes cruel world revolves around them. These are the thieves, the junkies, the hustlers, the desperate, the dispossessed, and the hipsters. They fight. They love. They survive.
