Southwestern College’s Perioperative Nursing Program is a new pilot training program which has been offered since Aug. 2011. The program has widely received acknowledgment from the community for its signature perioperative nurse training.

We would like to invite public comments about our nursing program in writing or per e-mail to the College or directly to the AORN. Contact information is provided below.

All applicants must have clinical sponsors and have current basic nursing skills in all of the following areas; starting IV’s, administration of medication through IV, basic dosage calculations, taking vital signs, Foley catheter placement, blood transfusions, dressing changes and intrapersonal communication skills.

Current students and previous ones are also asked to comment about their experience going through Southwestern College’s nursing program.

Upon completion of certification requirements, the graduate is eligible to apply to take the AORN Periop 101 competency examination for Registered Nursing.
