LOCAL ANESTHESIA, NITROUS OXIDE SEDATION, SOFT TISSUE CURETTAGE

The Southwestern College Dental Hygiene Program Anesthesia/Nitrous/STC  Course has been approved by the Dental Hygiene Committee of California (DHCC). 

STEP 1:  Contact the DHCC for assistance in determining if you are required to take this course for California licensure.  DHCC main number: (916) 263-1978

All three certifications must be completed concurrently.

All participants must have graduated from a CODA accredited dental hygiene program OR have an active dental hygiene license from a U.S. state or Canadian province OR  be a currently enrolled student in the last semester of an CODA accredited dental hygiene program.

Submission of enrollment form guarantees a position in your selected course date.

 

IMPORTANT: Participants traveling from out of the southern California area, must be aware that the clinical section occurs on weekends.  Travel arrangements should be made accordingly.  Once the enrollment form has been processed, participants will receive a detailed information packet explaining course materials, supplies, and patient requirements.

PATIENTS REQUIRED: Please note that at this time THREE (3) outside and separate patients are needed for the second on-campus weekend.  Patients are not supplied by this program/course.


LOW ENROLLMENT: Should low enrollment occur, registered participants will be notified by telephone. The course start date may be delayed.

STEPS TO ENROLL:

A new procedure has been recently implemented that will require all participants of this course to have a Southwestern College Identification Number.

 

Visit the college website at www.swccd.edu and click the link to the right of the home page, Apply and Register.

 

After you apply, you will receive an email response from the Office of Admission and Records (within  3-4 business days) that will include your SWC Identification Number.  Please be sure to include this number on enrollment form before sending in to program office.  Registration of any other courses will not be required and no other steps need to be followed after applying to the college and obtaining the ID number.
