Southwestern College

Test of Essential Academic Skills

All ADN, LVN-RN, and VN students must pass the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS).

This is a diagnostic test that covers basic Math, Reading, and Science. Students who fail to achieve a passing score must complete additional pre-nursing course work as directed by the Nursing Department. In the event you do not pass the test on your first attempt, you will need to complete remediation and test a second time (with a passing score) no sooner than six months after your first attempt in order for the score to be considered.  Proof of remediation, as well as a copy of unofficial ATI TEAS transcripts showing all TEAS scores must be attached to the program application.

Effective March 1, 2017: Version 6 will be mandatory when applying to SWC Nursing.
