Greetings from the Southwestern College Police Department
The Southwestern College Police Department is committed to providing a secure campus environment. The safety of our students, faculty, and staff is our primary concern. Although Southwestern College is a safe institution, crime does occur from time to time and it is incumbent upon all of us to be aware of potential vulnerabilities and to report criminal activity promptly.
The Department works closely with the campus communities to enhance its effectiveness and to respond to the communities’ needs through shared values and community-oriented policing efforts. Only through collaborate efforts and awareness can safety be enhanced.
Annual Security Reports are compiled and presented in compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Statistics Act of 1998. The purpose of these reports is to promote campus safety by providing important information on campus safety and security policies, emergency procedures, crime prevention efforts, victims’ rights and services, and procedures to follow when reporting crimes.
This website contains two Annual Security Reports:
1) Annual Security Report for 2017 (Clery crime statistics for the years 2014, 2015, and 2016)
2) Amended Annual Security Report for 2016 (Clery crime statistics for the years 2013, 2014, and 2015)
An in-depth audit was conducted during the spring and summer months of 2017 that identified inaccuracies in the number of Clery-reportable crimes for 2015 that were incorporated into the 2016 Annual Security Report.
The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Statistics Act of 1998 requires the re-issuance of prior Annual Security Reports when crime statistics are amended.
Paper copies of these reports are available at the College Police Office, located at the Chula Vista Campus in room 105D and at each of the Higher Education Centers and Crown Cove Aquatics Center.
I hope you find this information helpful and it furthers our shared goals of promoting a secure campus environment.
